Certificate III in Motorsport completed 2014

Jason was awarded the 2014 Group Training Association National Trainee of the Year and was also selected as one of twenty apprentices and trainees nationally to attend the “Today’s Skill’s: Tomorrow’s Leaders” conference in Canberra. Jason was an exceptional trainee and always maintained a high standard in every aspect of his training. He became the first remote trainee in NSW in both Certificate III in Motorsport and Certificate II in Production Technology. He has always volunteered his time at Race Meets to enable him to experience as much as he can in the Motorsports industry. He volunteered his time as one of 35 team members at The Supercheap Auto Bathurst 1000 and inevitably was selected as one of eight team members to be invited to be a pit crew member on the Audi Asia Pacific Six Race Series Team, making him the youngest ever pit crew member to be involved with Audi.

ANDY SPICER

Certificate III Sports Turf Management Completed 2013

Andrew is now employed as a Tradesperson with Wyong Shire Council and has begun to mentor his own first year apprentice. In 2013, Andrew was successful in being named the Australian National Sports Turf Association Graduate of the Year following his win at the State level. This win provided Andrew with the opportunity to attend the International Sports Turf Forum in America providing him with invaluable knowledge and experience within his industry. This win has also seen him gain the opportunity to undertake study tours of renowned sporting fields and to attend sports turf conferences in Melbourne. Through his own initiative, Andrew was able to secure a volunteer work placement with ANZ stadium at the Rugby League Grand Final and the fields that he has been working on have been rated higher than that of Sydney Olympic Park.

SHELLIE TOWNSEND

Certificate III in Heavy Commercial Vehicle Mechanical Technology – 2015 First Year Apprentice

Shellie is the only female Diesel Mechanic in her class and never backs away from a challenge. Having already completed a TVET course in Automotive Studies, the trade course is quickly developing her skillset even further. As an indigenous female in a non-traditional trade, Shellie was recently awarded the Bert Evans Scholarship for her positive attitude and application in the workplace and in her studies. This will provide her with up to three $5,000 payments during the course of her employment to assist with her training.
